The potato variety Volat is a mid-season table variety of Belarusian selection, distinguished by high yield and excellent consumer qualities. The tubers are oval-shaped with yellow skin and flesh, weighing from 108 to 146 grams, possessing good taste and medium cooking quality, belonging to culinary type B. The flesh has increased protein and vitamin C content, which gives the variety high biological value. Volat is suitable for various cooking methods, including frying and baking, and also demonstrates high storability up to 96%.
The variety shows resistance to a wide range of diseases, including potato nematode, potato scab, viruses X and L, as well as relatively high resistance to viruses S and M, black rot, dry fusarium rot, and anthracnose. Moderate resistance is noted against virus Y, common potato blight, leaf late blight, rizoctonia, and alternaria, while resistance to tuber late blight is low. Additionally, Volat is resistant to drought and mechanical damage, making it a reliable choice for various growing conditions.
To achieve maximum yield, it is recommended to grow this variety on light to medium soils with granulometric composition, maintaining planting density of 48–52 thousand tubers per hectare for food purposes and 55–58 thousand for seed plots. The variety responds well to intensive cultivation and has a medium physiological dormancy period of tubers. High marketability and adaptability make Volat a sought-after variety for cultivation in various regions.
