Artemisia 'Novachok' is an annual herbaceous plant growing up to 110 cm tall, which sprouts quickly: seedlings appear within 8–10 days after sowing. Active growth begins in the first decade of June and continues until the end of July, while mass flowering is observed in the third decade of this month. Fruits ripen by the end of September; seeds retain viability for a year and a half, making them suitable for subsequent propagation.
The yield of artemisia 'Novachok' harvested from one hectare is about 41 kg. From the plant raw material, a yellow-colored essential oil is extracted, possessing a pleasant fresh aroma. The main component of the oil is artemisia-ketone, reaching a concentration of up to 54%. Due to low sensitivity to soils and resistance to pests and diseases, the plant is easily grown under various conditions.
Artemisia 'Novachok' is widely used in pharma and aromatherapy thanks to its healing properties. Oil from this variety is used to prepare tinctures, ointments, and aromatic preparations, as well as as a component of traditional medicinal products. Thanks to the high concentration of artemisia-ketone, the product has pronounced antiseptic and anti-inflammatory action.
