Helianthus annuus ВА 220 is an early-maturing simple hybrid intended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region. The plants are dwarf, well-uniform in height, with medium-sized heart-shaped leaves and medium blisteriness. The leaves have medium serration of the edges and a non-glossy surface. The stem is almost glabrous in the upper part, and the hypocotyl lacks anthocyanin pigmentation, which is a characteristic feature of this hybrid.
The sunflower head is of medium size, inclined downwards by half, with elongated involucre bracts colored in anthocyanin. The seed part of the head is convex at maturity, with seeds of elongated-oval shape, predominantly black in color with grey stripes. The hybrid is distinguished by its high yield, averaging 20.1 to 26.8 centners per hectare across the region, which is 15.4-23.2% higher than standard indicators. Additionally, ВА 220 is a high-oil content hybrid with an average fat content in seeds of 55.2%, varying from 53.7 to 56.8%.
The hybrid has medium resistance to fusarium, as well as to white and gray mold, ensuring yield stability and product quality. Thanks to its characteristics, ВА 220 is suitable for efficient cultivation in the agro-ecological conditions of the Central Chernozem region, ensuring high productivity and quality of oilseeds.
