Sunflower VICTORIA is an early-maturing three-line hybrid intended for cultivation in the Lower Volga region. The plant is of medium or high height, without branching, with stem pubescence in the upper part ranging from medium to strong. Leaves are of medium size, heart-shaped, green with slight blistering and serrated edges. Flowers are yellow: ray florets are oval-shaped, tubular florets have very weak anthocyanin coloration of the styles. The head is medium-sized, semi-nodding, with a convex seed side. Seeds are broadly oval, of medium thickness, black in color with grey marginal and lateral bands, without spotting.
The hybrid is characterized by high oil content in seeds – the oil content reaches an average of 50.8–51%. Yield in the region is an average of 17 c/ha, with maximum indicators up to 27.9 c/ha, confirmed by trials in the Saratov region. The growing period from emergence to harvest is 105–110 days, which classifies VICTORIA as a medium-early hybrid. The hybrid differs in high yield potential and resistance to stress conditions, including drought and high temperatures.
VICTORIA possesses resistance to a number of diseases such as phoma, downy mildew, grey mold, and phoma. However, medium susceptibility to rust and increased sensitivity to white mold (sclerotinia) are noted. The hybrid is suitable for Clearfield® protection systems, which expands its application possibilities in modern agrotechnologies. Thanks to the combination of high oil content, adaptability, and disease resistance, VICTORIA is an effective choice for oilseed production in regions with similar climatic conditions.
