Sunflower "Ukrainian Sun" is an ultraprecoce hybrid intended for cultivation on various soil types, including the Steppe and Forest-Steppe zones of Ukraine. The vegetation period lasts 90-95 days, with a phase from emergence to flowering of about 58 days. Plants are of medium height — from 1.3 to 1.65 meters, with semi-erect stems and round heads of 15-20 centimeters in diameter. Seeds have an average size, rounded shell shape, and dark gray color, with a 1000-seed mass reaching up to 50 grams depending on the fraction. Planting density varies from 55 to 65 thousand plants per hectare depending on the region.
The hybrid is characterized by high yield and stability. Average yield is about 3400 kg/ha, while potential yield may reach 4200 kg/ha. "Ukrainian Sun" demonstrates rapid early growth, uniform emergence, flowering, and maturation, allowing for early harvest, which is highly valued in the market. High oil content in seeds — 50-52%, with protein content of 20-22% — ensures good oil extraction. The hybrid is especially suitable for risky agricultural zones and is recommended for post-harvest sowings.
One of its key advantages is high resistance to major sunflower diseases, such as Phomopsis, white mold, sclerotinia, as well as to races of "dziga" disease (A-G). Additionally, the hybrid exhibits excellent drought resistance, confirmed by a rating of 9-10 points, and high adaptability to stressful and adverse climatic conditions. When following agronomic recommendations and using plant protection products, fertilizers, and microelements, "Ukrainian Sun" shows stable and high yield performance, making it a profitable choice for farmers.
