Description Rakitovaya
Variety selected by A.S. Volgodina and L.A. Sevastyanova, obtained at the Tatar Research Institute of Agriculture by sowing seeds of large-fruited thorny plum. Introduced into the State Register since 1988 for the Middle Volga region.
Medium-sized tree with an inverted pyramidal, sparse crown. Crown foliage is weak. Bark on the trunk is brown with a gray coating, rough. Main branches are brown, smooth. Shoots are reddish-brown, straight, occasionally slightly curved, hairless, short, occasionally medium-length, thin, with small, light-gray stipules of moderate density. Leaves are small, narrowly inverted ovate, occasionally inverted ovate, green, slightly wrinkled, matte, convex, slightly hairy, with a pointed or bluntly pointed, downward-curving apex, wedge-shaped base, blunt-toothed, occasionally doubly blunt-toothed margin, on short, thin, pigmented petioles with lanceolate, medium-sized, late-falling stipules. Stipules are medium-sized, very rare, yellow, oval, occasionally round, located both on petioles and at the base of the leaf. Flowers are white, medium-sized, with widely open petals. Stigma is positioned either above or below the anthers.
Fruits are small (11.0 g), round, dark blue, hairless, with strong waxy coating, bluntly pointed apex, small depression at base, weak ventral suture. Skin is of medium thickness, easily removable. Flesh is greenish-yellow, firm, medium juicy, fine-grained-fibrous, sour-sweet, satisfactory taste. Peduncle is long and thin. Detachment is dry. Stone is broadly oval, medium-sized, light brown, with broadly rounded apex and rounded base, finely pitted-scaled surface, short, blunt ridge. Lateral ribs are absent, separates well from flesh.
Flowering begins in the second to third decade of May. Enters fruiting stage on the 4th-5th year after grafting.
Fruits ripen in the third decade of August, containing 17.72% dry matter, 1.53% organic acids, 13.14% sugars, suitable for fresh consumption and processing (jam, preserves).
Variety is medium-yielding, medium-winter-hardy, drought-resistant, medium-heat-tolerant, moderately affected by clasterosporiosis, rust, and slime scale, self-fertile, easily propagated by grafting, medium success with green cuttings in artificial mist. Pollinated by Renklod Tеньковский, Evrazia 21, Tеньковская синяя.
Advantages of the variety: self-fertility, drought resistance, fruit transportability, early fruiting.
Disadvantages of the variety: small, satisfactory-tasting fruits.
