European plum Blue Gift

Technical profile of the variety

The 'Siniy Dar' plum is a result of selective breeding between 'Eurasia 21' and 'Pamyat Timiryazeva'. It is characterized by medium-sized growth and a compact, upright crown, which is essential for high-density planting in modern orchards. The skeletal branches grow at a wide angle, providing structural integrity and resistance to breakage under heavy crop loads.

Biometric and fruit parameters

• Average fruit weight: 25–30 grams.
• Appearance: Dark purple skin with a dense waxy bloom, which acts as a protective layer against moisture loss and pathogen entry.
• Flesh: Firm, yellow-green, with a high sugar content and balanced acidity.

The primary agronomic advantage of 'Siniy Dar' is self-fertility. In commercial production, this eliminates the need for cross-pollinators, simplifying orchard layout design. The trees enter the active fruiting phase within 3–4 years of planting. The variety demonstrates high winter hardiness of the buds, ensuring stable production in temperate climates.

Agrotechnical recommendations

To achieve maximum yield potential, regular sanitation and formative pruning are required. Since the flowering phase begins relatively early, site selection should consider potential frost risks. The fruit features a dense skin, which provides excellent transportability, making the variety highly suitable for fresh market distribution and industrial processing.
