Variety from the Dagestan Experimental Garden Station, obtained by crossing the cherry varieties 'Aprilskaya Chernaya' and 'Droghana Yellow'. Author A.S. Pokrovskaya. Introduced into the State Register in 2002 for the North Caucasus region.
Medium-sized tree — 5.0-5.5 m tall, spherical, spreading, densely leafy crown. One-year-old shoot of medium thickness, natural greenish color. Generative and vegetative buds of medium size, positioned at an angle to the shoot. Generative bud egg-shaped, vegetative bud elongated and pointed (conical shape). Leaves large, round in shape. Leaf tip directly transitions from the rounded part to a pointed end. Base of the leaf smoothly transitions to narrowing towards the petiole. Leaf size 16.8-7.2 cm, with distinctly serrated edges. Leaf color deep green. Upper and lower surfaces smooth. Leaf slightly curved. At the base of the leaf blade, symmetrically located on the petiole, two purplish glands. Petiole of medium length 2.4-3.8 cm, medium thickness, dark brown color. Flowers of medium size, white, petals round, medium concave. Inflorescence — umbel, consisting of 2-4 flowers. Flower corolla shape is circular, petals arranged opposite each other. Surface of the stigma and stamens is spherical, with the stigma protruding above it (stamen length 5-6 mm, stigma length 7-8 mm). Calyx shape is spherical, edges of the sepals smooth. Flowering and fruiting occur on cluster branches and at the base of one-year-old shoots.
Fruits round in shape, with slightly pronounced shoulders, with a clearly visible ventral seam, color dark burgundy. Pit is small but deep. Fruit weight 6.6 g, fruit dimensions 20 x 21 x 19 mm. Flesh tender, juicy, dark red in color, with pink veins. Juice red in color. Taste sweet, with a pleasant combination of acidity. Sensory evaluation of fresh fruits 4.9 points. Fruits contain 12.6% dry matter, 8.4% sugars, 0.68% acids, 4.78 mg/100g ascorbic acid. Fruits have an attractive appearance and high taste qualities. Peduncle of medium length — 35 cm, attachment of the fruit medium, dry detachment, making the variety suitable for mechanical harvesting. Stone is round with distinct grooves, apex slightly concave, base slightly raised. Stone surface smooth. Stone weight 0.38 g, which constitutes 5.8% of the fruit weight. Stone easily separates from the flesh. Fruits are of universal use. Fruit cracking index in wet weather is 18.2%. Transportability good. Fruit storage life 5-6 days. Variety use is universal. After processing, high-quality compote and jam are obtained.
Ripening is early-medium. Flowering period 19-30 April, ripening 5-14 June. Variety enters fruiting on the 4-5th year (on the antipka) after planting in the garden. Variety is partially self-fertile. Yield is 17.0 kg per tree or 57.0 centners/ha.
Variety is resistant to winter frosts. Generative bud resistance is 95%. Resistance of opened flowers to spring frosts is above average. Among fungal diseases, the variety is noted to have moniliosis — 0.8%. Variety is relatively drought-tolerant, but prolonged summer droughts may adversely affect the tree’s condition, potentially leading to wilting and suppression.
Variety is suitable for intensive orchards. Does not require special pruning, only sanitary pruning, responsive to watering and fertilization.
