Hooligan Purple

The spicy Hooligan Purple pepper is an early-maturing variety of the habanero type, distinguished by high yield and vivid fruit color. The plant is tall and semi-spreading, making it suitable for cultivation under plastic covers as well as in open ground, primarily in southern regions. The fruits are conical with a pointed or rounded tip, measuring about 3.5 cm in length and weighing 30–40 g. The fruit flesh is thin, 2–4 mm thick. In the technical stage of ripeness, the fruits are dark purple, turning red at full biological maturity. The flavor is extremely spicy, making this variety particularly valuable for those who enjoy flavorful seasonings. Hooligan Purple is recommended for use dried, as well as for canning and pickling, expanding its culinary applications. This variety is suitable for industrial year-round cultivation using greenhouse light culture, ensuring a stable yield regardless of season. To obtain high-quality seedlings, seeds should be sown at the end of February, planted to a depth of 1 cm. Transplanting seedlings into individual pots occurs during the cotyledon stage, and transplanting seedlings into the ground or greenhouse occurs by late May. Special attention should be paid to shaping the plants: all lateral shoots and leaves should be removed up to the first fork to promote better development of main fruits. The recommended planting scheme is 30x40 cm. It is important to avoid planting sweet and spicy pepper varieties together, as cross-pollination may result in bitter-tasting sweet fruits.
