Pepper BESSTA

Field Performance and Adaptability

The F1 hybrid "Bessta" from Syngenta Crop Protection AG represents the latest Dutch breeding technology designed to combat climate volatility. This pepper variety is engineered for high plasticity, making it a reliable choice for growers facing unpredictable weather patterns. In field trials, the hybrid demonstrates an exceptional ability to set fruit even during extreme heat waves, a period when many other varieties suffer from pollen sterility.

Stress Tolerance and Disease Resistance

The genetic architecture of "Bessta" is focused on risk mitigation in both open-field and greenhouse cultivation. Key performance indicators include:

• Heat and Drought Tolerance: A robust root system efficiently manages water uptake, preventing fruit drop during peak summer temperatures.
• Disease Profile: Syngenta’s breeding program ensures comprehensive resistance to major viruses, including Tobacco Mosaic Virus, and Fusarium wilt, reducing the need for intensive fungicide applications.
• Structural Integrity: The plant’s strong, upright habit prevents lodging, which simplifies field management and ensures cleaner, higher-quality harvests.

With its official registration in Ukraine in 2026, "Bessta" is specifically optimized for local agro-climatic zones. It delivers consistent results across varying environments, from moisture-deficient southern regions to areas prone to significant diurnal temperature fluctuations, ensuring a stable and marketable yield.
