Dukat

Pion Dukat is a perennial decorative variety with dense, double flowers in a bright crimson hue, reaching up to 17-19 cm in diameter. The flowers have an elegant shape resembling a torondu and possess a mild fragrance. The plants are upright and sturdy, growing to about 100-110 cm in height, making them a striking feature in the garden. The medium flowering period allows enjoyment of the beauty of peonies for an extended time.

This variety was bred in Ukraine by breeder V.F. Horobets in 1994 and belongs to the group P. lactiflora. Pion Dukat exhibits good cold hardiness according to the USDA scale from zone 3a to 8a, ensuring its successful cultivation under various climatic conditions. The plant thrives in sunny locations or light partial shade, preferring fertile, loose soils with neutral pH.

To maintain the health and decorative appearance of the plant, regular fertilization is recommended. In the first year after planting, buds should be removed to strengthen the root system. During the active growth period, nitrogen-rich mineral fertilizers are beneficial; in early May, organic or complex fertilizers should be applied, and after flowering, potassium-phosphorus fertilizers are recommended. Pion Dukat is excellent for cutting, making it suitable not only for garden decoration but also for creating floral arrangements.
