Winter variety, developed at the North Caucasus Regional Institute of Horticulture and Viticulture through crossing of Napoleon and Toulouse varieties. Breeders: L. M. Sergeev and E. I. Kostetskaia. Undergoing field trials in the North Caucasus region.
Medium-sized tree. Young tree crown is pyramidal, becomes round, dense, irregular under heavy fruit load. Branches are curved, emerge from the trunk at nearly straight angles, directed upward. Bark on the trunk and main scaffold branches is peeling, gray.
Shoots are weakly jointed, bare, stipules small, buds bent, small. Leaves are elongated, margins uplifted, finely toothed, leaf blade is arc-shaped along the central vein.
Flowers are small, small-cup-shaped, white.
Fruits are above average size, large with watering, short-pear-shaped, sometimes round, uneven. Skin is tender, smooth, matte, green with numerous small, barely noticeable green subcutaneous buds during harvest maturity. As fruits ripen, skin turns lemon-yellow, sometimes with slight sunburn on the sun-facing side. Pit is small and wide, pedicel medium length and thickness, slightly curved. Calyx is open, plate broad and smooth.
Flesh is white, tender, juicy, melting, pleasantly acidic, excellent taste.
Fruits retain their appearance (do not turn brown) and flavor during prolonged storage under abrupt temperature changes. Under Kuban conditions, fruits contain 17.7% dry matter, 10.6% sugars, 0.29% titratable acids, 8.8 mg/100g ascorbic acid, and 63.4 mg/100g raw mass of P-active catechins.
Harvest maturity occurs at the end of September, consumer maturity in October. In refrigeration, fruits can be stored until January.
Fruits remain firmly attached to the tree. Fruit transportability is good.
Trees enter fruiting stage at ages 6-7 years after planting in orchards. Average yield at ages 12-15 years is 130-150 centners per hectare.
Tree is winter-hardy and drought-tolerant, slightly susceptible to scab.
Advantages of the variety: high drought and winter resistance, good yield, excellent fruit flavor.
Disadvantages of the variety: requirement for high cultivation technology.
