Pajitnik — an annual plant widely distributed in Asia and Europe, primarily cultivated as a forage crop. It can reach up to 60 cm in height and has branched stems with oval trifoliate leaves, the edges of which are toothed. The leaves are green on top and have a bluish-green tint on the underside. Pajitnik blooms from June to July, producing yellow or pale-purple butterfly-like flowers located in the leaf axils.
The fruits of pajitnik are brown pods 15-20 cm long, containing hard seeds with a strong aroma. The seeds mature from late September to early October. The entire plant emits a characteristic scent, which is one of its distinguishing features.
Pajitnik is valued not only as a forage crop but also as a honey plant. It is rich in various beneficial elements, making it sought after in multiple applications. However, it should be noted that pajitnik is not frost-resistant, limiting its cultivation in cold climates.
