The German perennial ryegrass variety "Temprano" (registered in 2015) is designed for high-yield forage production in the Polesie region. Its primary strength lies in its intensive tillering capacity, which creates a dense, durable turf capable of withstanding heavy grazing pressure and trampling.

Cultivation and Maintenance Guidelines

• Sowing Strategy: Optimal establishment is achieved through early spring sowing or late summer seeding (August). The recommended seeding rate for pure stands is 15–20 kg/ha. Seed placement should be shallow (1–2 cm) to ensure uniform emergence, as ryegrass seeds are sensitive to deep burial.
• Soil Requirements: Temprano thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive soils. In the lighter, sandy soils typical of the Polesie region, nitrogen fertilization is essential to maintain rapid regrowth rates and overall biomass production.
• Grazing Management: The variety is known for its rapid recovery after mowing or grazing. To maximize longevity, rotational grazing is advised: maintain a pre-grazing height of 15–20 cm and ensure a residual height of at least 5 cm to protect the growing point and facilitate quick regrowth.
• Phase-Specific Care: During the tillering phase, adequate moisture is critical. For intensive systems, split applications of nitrogen fertilizer following each grazing cycle or cutting are necessary to sustain high vegetative yields throughout the season.
