Poltavska Semi-Sugar: A Benchmark for Fodder Beet

The "Poltavska Semi-Sugar" variety represents a milestone in Ukrainian agricultural selection, developed by the M.I. Vavilov Institute of Pig Breeding and Agro-Industrial Production. For many years, this variety has served as a reliable solution for livestock farms, offering a perfect balance between high biomass production and essential nutrient content. It is widely recognized for its stability across different soil types and its adaptability to variable weather patterns.

Agronomic Strengths

The standout feature of this variety is its genetic resistance to Cercospora leaf spot. This trait is crucial for reducing input costs, as it minimizes the need for heavy fungicide applications, ensuring a healthier crop throughout the growing season. The plant's architecture is optimized for mechanical harvesting, with a root shape that facilitates efficient handling from the field to the storage facility.

Storage and Processing Capabilities

Designed with the logistics of modern farming in mind, Poltavska Semi-Sugar is highly regarded for its excellent storage durability (keeping quality). The firm texture of the roots ensures minimal weight loss during winter storage, making it a reliable feed source throughout the stall-feeding period. Furthermore, the variety is well-suited for industrial processing, whether for on-farm mixing or large-scale feed production, maintaining its nutritional integrity after shredding.
