Starobryadchesky onion is a famous Vologda family onion variety discovered in remote villages of the Vologda region. It is characterized by strong and reliable growth, forming 8-10 round-elongated bulbs in one bed, each weighing up to 75 grams. The bulbs have an unusual copper-pink coloration and a semi-sharp taste that not only adds piquancy to dishes but also possesses beneficial properties, helping to protect against colds, which is confirmed by the centuries-old history of this variety's use by Old Believers.

This onion variety belongs to the family onion species (Allium ascalonicum), which is widely known among gardeners and valued for its ability to form several bulbs in one bed, ensuring a good harvest. The leaves of the Starobryadchesky onion are more tender than those of the common onion, while the bulbs are less sharp and store better. The plant is distinguished by high cold-hardiness and frost resistance, allowing it to be grown both in spring and under winter. For successful growth, the onion requires light and light, humus-rich soils.

Starobryadchesky onion bulbs have a wide-elliptical shape with a dense texture. Dry scales are colored dark red with a brownish tint, while juicy ones are white with a purple tint. The variety is mid-maturing, with full maturity and an average yield of about 1 kg per square meter.
