Setton spring onion is a mid-late, high-yielding variety developed in the Netherlands based on the popular Sturon variety. It is intended for commercial cultivation and processing, features resistance to bolting and good storability. The maturation period is 110-125 days, which allows for a stable yield under proper conditions. Average yield reaches up to 350 kg per centner, making this variety attractive for farm enterprises.
Setton bulbs have an oval-round shape, weighing from 100 to 180 grams, with dense yellow-brown outer skin that is easy to peel. The flesh is snow-white, juicy, and has a mild, slightly spicy taste. Thanks to the narrow neck and dense skin, the onion stores well throughout the year, which is especially important for commercial use. The variety prefers fertile, well-drained loamy soils with moderate moisture and sunny open places for growing.
For planting, it is recommended to observe the following density: distance between plants about 10 cm, between rows — 20 cm, planting depth in spring 3-5 cm, autumn — 6-10 cm. Onion is well suited for various salad types with dense planting. Setton is suitable for growing in various regions due to its frost resistance and adaptability to climatic conditions. It is packaged in 10 kg bags, which is convenient for professional farmers.
