Onion Samurai

Stable yields for long-term storage

The 'Samurai' onion variety is the result of long-term breeding work by the Gavrish company and the Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK). This variety is tailored for professional vegetable farming, where cultivation efficiency and post-harvest durability are paramount.

Agronomic features and application

With a maturation period of 270–280 days, this is a late-ripening variety, making it an optimal choice for producing commercial bulbs with high outer-scale density. The bronze skin color not only provides an attractive market appearance but also indicates robust protection during mechanized harvesting and transportation.

• Salad use: Despite its long growth cycle, the variety has proven itself excellent for fresh consumption. It features a moderate pungency, making it highly sought after for both culinary use and industrial processing.
• Storage technology: The primary objective when selecting 'Samurai' is winter storage. The bulb's dense structure ensures quality retention well into late spring, significantly minimizing storage losses.
• Cultivation recommendations: Thanks to its uniform, round shape, the variety is well-adapted to standard planting and maintenance schemes used in large-scale commercial operations.

By choosing this variety, farmers are opting for predictable results: when proper cultivation techniques are applied, 'Samurai' demonstrates high resilience to adverse factors and excellent maturation, which is crucial given its long growing season.
