Description Royal Oporto
Royal Oporto — a medium-late hybrid of red bulb onion with a maturity period from 115 to 125 days. The bulbs have a flat-round shape and an attractive dark-red color with a purple tint. The average fruit weight ranges from 150 to 250 grams, and the flesh is light-purple. High dry matter content, reaching up to 8%, makes this onion the hardest among red varieties, ensuring excellent storability and the ability to be stored for up to 6 months after harvest. A dense shell of dry scales facilitates mechanized harvesting and long-term storage until spring.

The hybrid exhibits high yield potential, reaching up to 100 tons per hectare, and uniform bulb size. Royal Oporto has outstanding taste qualities — ranging from mild to sweet — making it suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. The juicy purple onion rings add an appetizing appearance and rich flavor to dishes.

Royal Oporto is resistant to common diseases such as Fusarium and root rot, enhancing cultivation reliability. A robust root system supports good plant development. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation across all of Ukraine, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield.
