Cabbage Winter Pride F1

Consistent performance in challenging conditions

Working with the 'Winter Pride F1' hybrid by Monsanto, what stands out most is the reliability. For an agronomist managing large-scale production, this white cabbage hybrid acts as an insurance policy. The main hurdle for many late-maturing varieties is Fusarium wilt, which can wipe out a significant portion of the yield during hot seasons. With Winter Pride F1, this risk is mitigated by genetic resistance, allowing for reduced expenditures on fungicide applications.

Field operations and logistics

From a harvesting perspective, heads weighing 4–8 kg are the industry standard for processors and retail chains. The flat-round shape is not just dense; it is optimized for packing efficiency in standard shipping containers. A maturity period of 90–100 days from transplanting allows for precise scheduling of field operations.

Storage and market value

Once placed in storage, the hybrid proves its worth. The grey-green color remains stable even after long-term storage, ensuring high shelf appeal for the fresh market.

• Strong genetic resistance to Fusarium wilt.
• Versatility: from industrial processing to fresh market distribution.
• Large head size (up to 8 kg), ideal for shredding and wholesale.
• Excellent shelf life up to 6 months.
