PRIMO BLANCO is a mid-season hybrid of white bulb onion that matures in 110-115 days. The bulbs have a round shape and a medium weight ranging from 160 to 300 grams depending on the sowing scheme. Inner scales of the onion are thick, very juicy and crisp, providing excellent taste qualities. Dry scales have a pearly-white color, are uniform and without green veins, and the early formation of a dense and opaque dry scale prevents greening of the bulbs. With dry matter content above 8%, the onion is characterized by high flesh juiciness.
The PRIMO BLANCO hybrid is distinguished by high yield, reaching 60-80 tons per hectare, and is adapted to various growing conditions, including dense sowings. It responds well to mineral nutrition and has a powerful root system, which contributes to resilience and stable growth. The onion is recommended for cultivation in conditions with a long photoperiod; sowing is usually conducted at the end of winter or in spring.
A feature of this hybrid is high resistance to diseases such as fusarium and pink rot, which significantly reduces the risk of crop losses. The onion is suitable for both fresh market and long-term storage—over 6 months. The hybrid is produced in Italy and is one of the best options for white onion cultivation in the climatic conditions of Ukraine.
