Onion Performer

Professional choice for green onion production: Bejo «Performer»

When planning onion production for green tops, success depends on consistency and disease resistance. The «Performer» hybrid by Bejo has established itself as a reliable tool for professional growers. It is a classic example where genetic traits allow you to minimize harvest risks and ensure stable market output.

Field performance and disease management

Growing onions often involves battling soil-borne diseases like Fusarium and pink root rot, which can destroy a crop in days. «Performer» stands out due to its inherent resistance to pink root rot, which significantly simplifies field management and allows for more efficient use of fungicides. While the hybrid’s immune system is robust, maintaining proper crop rotation remains essential to achieving maximum yield potential.

Harvesting and market appeal

This hybrid is specifically designed for manual harvesting. Its powerful, upright leaves make the picking process easier for crews, improving productivity. The green foliage is vibrant, and the white stem base is well-defined, which is exactly what retailers and consumers look for on the shelf. The key to success with «Performer» is timing; harvesting at the right maturity stage ensures the best quality and minimizes post-harvest waste.

Why choose Bejo genetics?

Choosing seeds from Bejo is an investment in business predictability. «Performer» offers excellent uniformity, which is critical for large-scale operations. By selecting this hybrid, you gain a reliable crop that produces consistent high-quality greens, optimizing your labor costs and increasing the overall profitability of your acreage.
