Onion Lamyca

Genetic resilience and performance of Lamika onion

The Italian breeding expertise from Cora Seeds S.R.L is showcased in the Lamika hybrid, providing the professional agricultural sector with a robust solution against two major yield-limiting factors: Pink Root Rot and Fusarium wilt. For producers, this translates into predictable stand density and reliable field performance until harvest.

Technical profile and morphology

Lamika is a mid-to-late maturing hybrid with a vegetation cycle of 120–130 days. This duration allows the crop to develop a substantial root system and optimal dry matter content for long-term storage potential. Key specifications of the bulbs include:

• Shape: Uniformly round, facilitating efficient mechanical harvesting and sizing.
• Weight: A consistent range of 150–160 grams, fitting commercial retail standards perfectly.
• Appearance: Striking dark bronze skin with crisp, white internal flesh.

The practical impact of Cora Seeds breeding

Choosing Lamika is a strategic move for fields with high disease pressure. The resistance to Fusarium and Pink Root is a direct result of specialized breeding by Cora Seeds S.R.L, rather than just a cosmetic claim. Due to the hybrid's uniform size and tight skin adhesion, Lamika performs exceptionally well in storage, maintaining its internal firmness and market appeal significantly longer than standard varieties.
