Onion BT DEPOCU

Consistent Yields and Exceptional Storage

When growing bulb onions, the main challenge for any agronomist is post-harvest shelf life. The "BT Depodju" variety from the Turkish breeding company Bt Tohumculuk Ziraat Ve Tic.A.S addresses this perfectly, offering storage capabilities of 9–10 months. This is the variety you want when you need the produce to hold its market quality until late spring, enabling sales during peak price periods.

Agronomic Performance

Breeder Burak Ozkale focused on high efficiency and reliability. When proper agronomic practices are applied, "BT Depodju" consistently delivers between 70 and 90 tonnes per hectare. With a maturity cycle of 100–110 days, it fits seamlessly into most crop rotation schedules.

• Bulb Characteristics: The uniform, round shape and average weight of 110–120 grams make it a preferred choice for retail chains and food processors.
• Quality: The bright brown skin provides excellent protection, while the crisp white flesh meets high culinary standards.
• Field Performance: The variety is responsive to irrigation and fertigation. Due to the high uniformity of the bulbs, mechanical harvesting results in minimal damage, which is critical for long-term storage success.

For farmers focused on long-term operations, this hybrid offers more than just high tonnage; it offers predictability. In storage, the bulbs remain stable under standard climate control, minimizing the need for complex handling or specialized storage infrastructure.
