Onion AMFORA.

Stable yields from domestic selection

The Amfora variety, developed by specialists at the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, is a classic representative of Ukrainian selection, adapted to local climatic conditions. Unlike many imported hybrids that require specific protection systems and intensive fertilization, Amfora demonstrates high plasticity and reliability when grown in open ground.

Agrotechnical advantages

• High storage potential: the variety is known for its ability to maintain its marketability throughout the entire winter period, which is crucial for farms focused on spring sales.
• Disease resistance: genetically embedded protection allows for a reduction in the number of fungicide treatments, directly impacting production costs.
• Adaptability: the variety successfully withstands temperature fluctuations typical for the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.

Who is this variety for?

Amfora is optimally suited for small to medium-sized farms looking for a balance between crop quality and production costs. Compared to demanding foreign hybrids, this variety is less temperamental regarding soil quality, though it responds well to fertilization. Its main feature is the formation of a strong, dense bulb with an intense outer layer, ensuring resistance to mechanical damage during machine harvesting and transportation. A potential downside is the need for strict adherence to planting schedules, as overripe or underdeveloped bulbs may lose their storage potential.
