Onion BILYANKA.

Stability and Field Performance

When selecting a yellow onion variety, the primary focus is always on its performance under real-field conditions. The "Bilyanka" variety, developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, is a reliable tool for those who prioritize proven Ukrainian agricultural solutions. From an agronomic management perspective, working with this variety eliminates unexpected issues: the crop shows high bulb uniformity, which significantly simplifies the mechanical harvesting process and subsequent sorting.

Cultivation Economics

The main asset of this variety is its technical efficiency. The bulbs feature tight outer scales, which directly impacts shelf life and minimizes losses during transport. For the grower, it is crucial that "Bilyanka" is adapted to Ukraine's climatic zones, reducing the risk of yield loss due to sudden temperature drops or short-term droughts. The variety does not require specialized growth regulators, allowing for operation using standard crop protection and fertilization protocols. In terms of seed costs and general maintenance, it delivers a predictable return on investment with moderate costs per hectare.

Crop Management and Maintenance

During the growing season, the variety does not have aggressive soil requirements, though it performs best on light loams. Its resistance to major onion pathogens allows for a reduction in the frequency of fungicide applications, ultimately lowering the cost of production. Harvesting is straightforward: the onion neck matures well, ensuring rapid drying of the crop and long-term storage without signs of decay.
