Oat FUCHS

Fuchs Oats: The German standard for the food industry

When discussing oats for flakes, quality requirements become critical. The "Fuchs" variety from Saaten-Union (Germany) is the choice for those targeting high-end processing who want to avoid yield losses.

Agronomic features and field practice

Fuchs is a classic spring oat that adapts perfectly to temperate climates.

• Grain hectoliter weight stability: This is the key metric for oat flakes. The variety produces plump, well-filled kernels that resist fracturing during dehulling.
• Lodging resistance: The stem is robust, allowing for a smooth harvest even if rainy weather hits during the ripening phase.
• Crop health: German breeding is traditionally strong in cereal disease resistance, which reduces fungicide costs—the savings per hectare are tangible.

Processing advantages

The main advantage of Fuchs is its specific focus on the food industry. If you supply grain to major processing plants for quick-cooking flakes, this variety is your ticket to the premium market. The output of finished product is higher, while foreign matter and non-standard grains are minimized. This is a case where high-quality seed ("Elite") pays off through a higher selling price.

The variety is a pleasure to work with: it is uniform and causes no issues at the weighbridge or during cleaning. For an agronomist, this means less time spent on grain conditioning. If your goal is a consistently high-quality product for the food industry, Fuchs offers excellent profitability metrics.
