AVENJU is a mid-early spring variety of oat (Avena sativa L.) intended for food and feed use. The plant is characterized by its dwarf stature, resistance to lodging and drought, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. The variety features short or medium-length spikelets, semi-unilateral shape, and large floreted grain with white glume color. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 35 to 42 grams, while grain natural density varies between 443-472 g/L. Protein content reaches 13.8%, ensuring high-quality grain for food purposes, including the production of oat flakes.
AVENJU demonstrates high yield: in the Central region it reaches 42.0 centners/hectare, and in the Central Black Earth region up to 53.3 centners/hectare, while in some cases yield can reach 94.6 centners/hectare. For optimal growth, early sowing with a seeding rate of 330–350 grains/m² and late sowing with a rate of 350–380 grains/m² are recommended. Agrotechnical measures include applying nitrogen fertilizers at sowing and at the stem elongation stage, as well as phosphorus and potassium fertilizers in autumn or early spring. In cases of high infection background, seed treatment and fungicide application are recommended to protect the plants.
The variety is recommended for cultivation in various districts of the Central and Central Black Earth regions, including Bryansk, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Moscow, Smolensk, Kursk, and Orel regions. Thanks to its drought resistance and ability to withstand spring frosts, AVENJU is suitable for cultivation under variable climate conditions. This oat is a versatile crop, successfully used both for obtaining high-quality food grain and for animal feed.
