Nut variety Octavius is a high-yielding Canadian selection variety, adapted to the climatic conditions of Ukraine. It features a compact plant and large pods containing 1-2 seeds, with a 1000-seed weight ranging from 300 to 380 grams. The crop's vegetation period lasts 90-100 days, allowing effective use in various agroclimatic zones. The variety is characterized by high resistance to major diseases such as ascochitosis, fusarium, and anthracnose, as well as low susceptibility to pod cracking, which contributes to good yield retention and makes it suitable for export.
Octavius exhibits high drought tolerance, confirmed by research, making it especially valuable for cultivation in regions with unstable moisture levels. Due to this trait, the variety is successfully used in arid climates, ensuring stable yields and efficient water resource utilization. High protein content in seeds — up to 23-26% — makes nut not only nutritious but also a beneficial product rich in phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, B vitamins, iron, and other minerals.
The application of the Octavius nut variety is versatile: it can be consumed fresh, young seeds can be frozen, and dishes such as soups, stews, and casseroles can be prepared from it. Thanks to its nutritional properties and resilience to adverse conditions, this variety is popular among farmers and gardeners seeking a high-quality and beneficial harvest.
