Mustard Sharm

Reliable Yield for the Spice Industry

The «Sharm» mustard variety, developed by the Institute of Agriculture of NAAS, occupies a secure niche in the market of crops tailored for the food processing industry. Its primary advantage is predictability. Unlike tall hybrids prone to lodging, this variety maintains an upright growth habit throughout the ripening cycle, reaching a height of 60–90 cm. This characteristic simplifies harvesting and minimizes grain loss.

Agronomic Profile and Usage

«Sharm» is a specialized variety. Its genetic potential is focused on producing high-quality grain for spices and mustard powder. A yield of 15–20 dt/ha under Ukrainian climatic conditions is considered a reliable benchmark, achievable with standard agronomic practices.

• Economic Efficiency: Ideal for farms operating under contracts with food processing plants.
• Technological Ease: Uniform ripening ensures mechanical harvesting can be completed within tight timeframes.
• Management Needs: The variety responds well to fertilization but requires diligent weed control, as mustard is sensitive to competition during the early growth stages.

If you are looking for a crop to diversify your rotation that avoids complex technological requirements while ensuring commodity-grade spice quality, this variety from a domestic breeder is a logical choice.
