Mustard Severka

European Breeding for Modern Agriculture

The «Severka» mustard hybrid represents the latest advancement from the Czech breeding company Selgen, a.s. Officially registered in Ukraine in 2025, this simple hybrid is the result of rigorous selection processes aimed at delivering consistent performance in Central and Eastern European climates. By integrating «Severka» into their crop rotation, producers gain access to high-quality European genetics designed for stability and predictable yields.

Morphological Traits and Development

As a diploid hybrid, «Severka» exhibits a well-balanced growth pattern. According to UPOV standards, the plant reaches a medium height during the flowering stage, which simplifies field management and harvesting operations. The hybrid is characterized by a strong development of generative organs, even when observed in the year of sowing, indicating a robust physiological potential.

• Leaf Structure: The plant features moderate green coloration and medium leaf segmentation, ensuring efficient photosynthetic activity.
• Pod Characteristics: A standout feature is the long pod length, which supports effective seed development despite the small mass of 1000 seeds.
• Biochemical Profile: The presence of erucic acid in the seeds is a key trait, defining the hybrid's suitability for specific industrial processing requirements.

The Selgen, a.s. breeding program is renowned for its focus on adaptability and resilience. «Severka» continues this tradition, offering farmers a reliable tool for intensive cultivation. With its medium-length flowering period and optimal petal structure, the hybrid is well-equipped to handle the environmental challenges of the current agricultural season, making it a strategic choice for modern farming operations.
