UNUSUAL

The "Unusual" melon variety is a delicacy-type hybrid intended for cultivation in open ground, especially in southern regions, as well as under film coverings. The plant is of medium climbing ability and differs in its early entry into fruiting — the first fruits ripen 60-65 days after germination. The fruits have an unusual shape: flat-round, ribbed, cream-colored with golden stripes, resembling a pumpkin. The average weight of the fruits is about 2.5-3 kg.

The melon flesh is oily, dark-orange, very juicy and aromatic, which makes it particularly attractive for fresh consumption. Due to its taste qualities, the melon is widely used for making fruit salads, jams, candied fruits, and desserts. The fruits have high sweetness and a crisp texture, which further emphasizes their delicacy nature.

The hybrid is characterized by disease resistance and high beta-carotene content, which increases its nutritional value. For optimal cultivation, it is recommended to pinch off the stems after 5-6 leaves, leaving 3-5 fruits on the plant. Irrigation should be stopped 10-15 days before ripening, which contributes to improving the taste qualities of the fruits. Under conditions of unstable climate, the melon is better grown under film coverings or in greenhouses on trellises, which ensures a more stable yield and plant protection.
