Swiss chard is a versatile vegetable that combines vivid decorativeness with nutritional value. Its stems and leaves come in a wide range of shades: from golden yellow to pink, red, white, and green, making it an excellent garnish for any dish. Leaf texture varies from smooth to slightly ruffled, while stems resemble celery in taste and tenderness.

Swiss chard is easy to prepare: sautéed stems become a delicious side dish, and leaves can be used in salads, soups, or as an addition to various dishes. The taste of the leaves resembles beets but is milder, making them suitable even for hot weather – the plant does not grow too large and remains tender. Due to its rich content of vitamins and minerals, Swiss chard is considered "super-greenery".

In terms of cultivation, it manifests as a biennial plant but is cultivated as an annual. It grows quickly within 45–50 days from germination, reaching a height of up to 70 cm and a petiole mass of 500–600 g per plant, with a total productive part of 900–1200 g. Swiss chard is almost disease-free, adapts easily to open ground and sunny locations, making it a popular choice for both home gardening and industrial production.
