Karamelka

The Caramelka salad is a high-yielding mid-season leaf variety with an erect rosette of leaves up to 21 cm high and 20-25 cm in diameter. The leaves are elongated, yellow-green in color, strongly wavy at the edges, and have a tender, crunchy, and juicy texture without bitterness. The mass of one plant reaches about 200 grams, and the yield is from 2.0 to 3.2 kg per square meter. The variety is valued for its excellent taste qualities and high content of microelements and vitamins, as well as for its resistance to bolting and adverse weather conditions.

To grow Caramelka salad, sowing for seedlings is recommended in March-April, followed by transplanting into open ground in May according to a scheme of 25x30 cm. When dense seedlings appear, thinning out is carried out twice: first at the stage of one true leaf to a distance of 5-7 cm, and then 2-3 weeks after sowing, leaving 25-30 cm between plants. Care of the plants includes loosening the soil, weeding, and rare but abundant watering, with watering best being carried out in furrows, avoiding water getting on the leaves. Seeds maintain biological viability when stored correctly for up to 4 years.
