CARTAGONOVA lettuce is a mid-late maturity head lettuce variety characterized by high yield and resistance to adverse growing conditions. This Dutch selection, developed by Rijk Zwaan, is especially valued for its stable yield and suitability for year-round cultivation in northern and central regions, as well as for spring-autumn periods in the south. The plant forms a semi-upright leaf rosette, approximately 30 cm tall and 25 cm in diameter, with large, wavy, and blistered light-green leaves featuring deep, frequent incisions at the top. The head is flat-round, compact, weighing from 400 to 700 grams, with crisp texture and excellent flavor. CARTAGONOVA lettuce exhibits high resistance to root curling and bolting, making it a reliable choice for farmers and gardeners. It tolerates hot weather and can withstand minor frost down to -5 degrees, broadening its cultivation potential across various climates. For high-quality seedlings, it is recommended to use seedling method with sowing in trays at 16–18 °C. After transplanting to open ground, young plants should be protected with agrofabric from late frosts and other adverse factors. Care for CARTAGONOVA lettuce includes timely watering, weed control, and fertilization, promoting formation of dense, flavorful heads. The variety has good transportability, maintaining its market appearance during long-distance transport. Yield reaches 23 tons per hectare, confirming its high productivity and economic attractiveness for cultivation both in private gardens and commercial scales.
