Twister

Twister potato is an early table variety with a maturation period of 60–70 days, characterized by high yield and excellent taste qualities. This variety is versatile and suitable for both professional cultivation on large areas and home gardens. Plants form compact bushes with strong stems, and tubers have round-oval or elongated-oval shapes with smooth, thin yellow skin and light-yellow flesh. Shallow eyes facilitate peeling and give the potato an attractive commercial appearance. Tubers are uniform in size and abundant, ensuring stable and high yields.

The Twister variety belongs to the culinary type AB, indicating a weakly disintegrating tuber structure. The potato retains its shape well after boiling, baking, and frying, making it versatile for preparing various dishes, including side dishes and salads. Dry matter content is approximately 19%, providing good texture after thermal processing. However, this variety is not recommended for frying or processing into chips. The tuber dormancy period is relatively long, which contributes to good storage longevity.

Twister exhibits high resistance to major potato diseases, including golden nematode (PCN Ro1, Ro4) and potato scab, allowing cultivation with minimal risk even under challenging conditions. Additionally, the variety is practically immune to late blight of leaves and tubers, as well as to Yn and Yntn viruses. Moderate resistance is observed against Fusarium and common scab, although the variety is sensitive to powdery scab and black spot. Twister is also sensitive to herbicides based on metribuzin and ethylene, which should be considered during agronomic practices.
