Description NAFIDA
The Nandina potato variety is a very early table-type variety developed by Europlant Pflanzenzucht GMBH in Germany and registered in the State Register for the Central, Volga-Vyatka, and North Caucasus regions of Russia. Plants are of medium height, semi-upright, with large light-green leaves and weak reddish-purple flowers. Tubers are oval-round, with smooth yellow skin and yellow flesh, weighing 72–132 grams, with small or medium-depth eyes. Starch content varies from 12.4% to 16.4%, making this variety suitable for various culinary purposes, especially frying and stewing (culinary type BC). The taste of tubers is rated as good to excellent, and storability reaches 93%.

The Nandina variety has high and stable yield, averaging 146–322 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 329 centners per hectare. The first harvest at day 45 after emergence yields 82–177 centners per hectare, and the second harvest at day 55 yields 115–238 centners per hectare, matching or exceeding the standards of other early varieties. The number of tubers per plant ranges from 6 to 10, ensuring good marketability of the harvest (77–93%).

The variety exhibits high resistance to a range of diseases and pests. It is resistant to golden potato cyst nematode, potato scab, mosaic virus (crinkly and striped), and leaf curling. According to the VNIIFVI data, the variety is susceptible to late blight (on foliage and tubers) and common scab, but overall it has good phytosanitary resistance. Nandina is low-maintenance and suitable for cultivation in most regions of Russia, making it an excellent choice for garden plots and dacha sites.
