Description ZUMBA
Zumba potato is a medium-early table variety with oval-round tubers of medium weight, from 100 to 150 grams, covered with yellow skin and cream-colored flesh. The starch content in the tubers is 15.0–16.2%, ensuring good taste and high marketability at 88%. The storage capacity of the variety reaches 96%, indicating its excellent storage ability. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect form and medium-sized green leaves, and the flower has weak or absent anthocyanin pigmentation.

The Zumba variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 176 to 344 centners per hectare, which is 24–69 centners higher than standard varieties Crown and Nevsky. Maximum yield can reach 435 centners per hectare, exceeding the performance of the Lady Clare variety. The potato is resistant to the potato cancer pathogen (pathotype I), as well as to leaf curl and mosaic diseases of moderate severity. However, the variety is susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode and tuber blight, requiring attention during cultivation.

Zumba is adapted to various soil-climatic conditions of the Volga-Vyatka and Middle Volga regions. For successful cultivation, optimal agronomic parameters should be followed, including row spacing of about 75 cm and plant spacing of 30–32 cm. Seed material is sensitive to frost, so planting should be done when soil temperature is not lower than 8–9°C. The variety is suitable for boiling and frying, as well as for processing into chips, making it a versatile choice for table use.
