Description ARCHIDEA
The potato variety Archidea is a mid-early table variety of Belarusian selection, characterized by stable high yield and good adaptability to various soil-climatic conditions. The maturation period ranges from 70 to 90 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. The plant is tall, upright, with medium-sized green leaves and white flowers. Tubers are round, with small eyes, smooth or slightly netted yellow skin, and yellow flesh. The weight of marketable tubers ranges from 93 to 151 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 8–12. Yield can reach up to 580 centners per hectare, meeting high standards for marketability and quality. The Archidea variety possesses excellent consumer qualities: tubers have excellent taste and good mashability, flesh does not darken upon cutting or thermal processing, making this potato ideal for making mashed potatoes and other culinary dishes of type CD. Starch content ranges from 15.7% to 21.5%, which is higher compared to some standard varieties, and the variety is characterized by low nitrate content. Thanks to these properties, the potato is suitable not only for table consumption but also for starch production during the summer period. Tubers have high storability — up to 98–99%, ensuring good preservation during storage and transportation. Archidea is resistant to a number of diseases and adverse factors. The variety is resistant to potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, and black rot, and shows moderate resistance to late blight of leaves and tubers, viruses, and wet rot. However, it is susceptible to common scab. The potato tolerates drought well and demonstrates good adaptability to various soils, including loamy-sandy and sandy loam soils. For optimal cultivation, it is recommended to follow the recommended planting density and avoid excessive application of nitrogen fertilizers, which helps achieve a stable and high-quality yield.
