Iris BORDER WHITE

An elegant accent for garden compositions

The "Bordurny Bely" (Border White) iris is a result of breeding work by the Federal Research Center for Vegetable Growing, offering gardeners a solution where aesthetics meet functionality. Unlike tall bearded irises, which often require staking due to the wind-catch of their stems, this variety holds its shape independently thanks to its compact nature.

Key features and plant architecture

• Growth range: Depending on lighting conditions and soil composition, the flower stalks reach a height of 30 to 70 cm, making the variety suitable for both the front edge of a mixborder and as a mid-layer element.
• Color palette: The pure white shade of the petals adds visual depth and a sense of airiness to the flower bed, contrasting effectively with dark foliage or more vibrant perennials.
• Stability: Originating from a national research center, the variety guarantees adaptability to various climatic conditions, demonstrating good winter hardiness and resistance to fluctuating humidity.

Who is this iris for?

This variety is an optimal choice for owners of smaller plots where every centimeter of space matters. It does not require annual division, and thanks to its medium size, it does not obscure the view of lower-growing plants while still confidently framing a path or rock garden. However, it is worth noting that, like all irises, this hybrid requires open, well-lit spaces. In the shade, the stalks may stretch, losing their compactness, and flowering becomes less abundant. This is a plant for those who value predictability and clean lines in landscape design.
