AS 3

The AS 3 cotton variety belongs to the species Gossypium hirsutum L., which is characterized by a spreading and compact bush form with a height from 40 cm to 2 m. The leaves are large, palmately-lobed, without gossypol glands, but with the presence of nectaries. The flowers are large, yellow petals, and the fruit is an oval boll with a long pedicel and 6–9 seeds in each locule.

Yield characteristics: total cotton lint yield is 29 c/ha with 95% home-collection, mass of lint per boll is 5.7 g. The mass of 1000 seeds is equal to 117 g, and fiber yield is 35%. Staple length reaches 39 mm, breaking strength is 4.7 H, fiber type is 3. Seed yield is 19 c/ha. The vegetative period is about 110 days, after which the plant is ready for mechanized harvesting.

The AS 3 culture is suitable for cultivation at a planting density of 80,000 plants per hectare and it is recommended to stop irrigation by the end of the first decade of August. The plant is resistant to diseases and pests, which makes it an economically viable choice for farmers seeking high cotton yield and quality.
