Sofia buckwheat variety is a high-yielding and versatile variety, registered in the Ukrainian Plant Varieties Register in 2014. Plants are erect, determinate, 88-92 cm tall, with a 1000-seed mass of 29-30 g. The variety is medium-maturing, with a vegetation period of 82-85 days, ensuring uniform ripening and reducing losses during harvest. Sofia is characterized by high resistance to lodging, wind damage, and drought, as well as absence of pest infestation, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. The variety is recommended for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe regions, and Polissia of Ukraine. It tolerates adverse weather conditions, including wind load, and demonstrates high disease resistance. Sofia responds well to mineral fertilization and is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies with high nutrient inputs. The seeding rate is 60-65 kg per hectare, with yields reaching 22 centners per hectare under minimum nutrition, and an average yield of 21.7 centners per hectare in trials, with a maximum yield of 42.6 centners per hectare. Sofia buckwheat possesses high technological and nutritional qualities, making it in demand both in agriculture and the food industry. Additionally, the variety is a good nectar source, adding additional value to its cultivation. Thanks to its combination of high yield, resistance to stress factors, and versatility in application, Sofia is a profitable and reliable choice for farmers in various regions.
