Description Yaroslavna
The buckwheat variety Yaroslavna was included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2009 and is the result of selection by the Institute of Agriculture of the North-East of NAAN. This medium-early determinate variety was developed by individual-family selection for productivity, uniform ripening, and resistance to adverse conditions. Plants reach a height of 90-110 cm, have a compact habit with well-leafed, branched stems, on which 6-7 nodes form. The inflorescences are narrowly cylindrical with panicle-like clusters, flowers are predominantly white, sometimes pale pink. The fruits are large, winged, with a thousand-grain weight of approximately 30 g.

Yaroslavna is characterized by high technological and grain qualities: the protein content in the grain reaches 15-16%, the grain density is 600 g/l, the hull content is 20.1%, the flour yield is 78-80%, and the grain uniformity is 85-90%. The variety demonstrates high yield potential at 25-30 ц/га (2.5-3 т/га) under proper agronomic practices. Due to its high resistance to heat and summer drought, Yaroslavna is especially effective in the steppe zone of Ukraine, where it outperforms many other varieties.

In addition, the variety exhibits high resistance to several diseases, including powdery mildew, ascochytosis, septoria, downy mildew, cercosporosis, and phyllostictosis, which contributes to stable yields. The recommended seeding rate is 3.5 million seeds per hectare for full seeding and 2.2 million for wide-row planting. All these characteristics make Yaroslavna a reliable and productive choice for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, especially under dry climatic conditions.
