FALENSKY USATY

Pea cultivar Falensky Usaty is a mid-maturing variety with a vegetation period ranging from 67 to 89 days. Plants reach a height of 47 to 92 cm and are characterized by good leafiness. Seeds of this variety are small, round, light yellow in color with a smooth surface and a light seed scar. Average mass of 1000 seeds varies from 123 to 264 grams, indicating high seed density and quality. Flowers are white, pods are straight or slightly curved with a blunt tip, and cotyledons have a yellow tint.

The variety is distinguished by high resistance to lodging and shattering, which ensures crop preservation under unfavorable weather conditions. Despite good disease resistance, Falensky Usaty is susceptible to pea anthracnose, ascochyta blight, and root rots. Pests such as the pea moth can damage 11 to 18% of seeds. Drought resistance of the variety is somewhat lower compared to other standard varieties, which should be taken into account when choosing a growing region.

Falensky Usaty was developed at the Federal Agrarian Scientific Center of the North-East and included in the register in 2010. The variety demonstrates high yield, reaching an average of 19.8 c/ha, and in some regions, such as the Kirov region and Nizhny Novgorod region, yield can exceed 40 c/ha. High protein content in the grain — up to 26.4% — makes this variety attractive for food and feed use. Commercial and culinary qualities of the pea are good, which ensures its widespread application in various climatic zones.
