The Gladiolus variety 'Permskij Souvenir' is a tall plant, reaching a height of 105 to 120 cm, with a strong and straight scape. Its leaves are light green, and the inflorescence is dense, measuring 58-61 cm in length, consisting of 14-17 flowers in a lilac shade with a bright yellow-red spot on the lower perianth lobes. The flowers are fragrant-free, and the flowering duration is about 24 days, with cut flowers lasting up to 10 days. The corms of this variety are bright yellow, adding extra decorative appeal.
The 'Permskij Souvenir' variety is distinguished by its high resistance to diseases and pests, making it a reliable choice for cultivation both in open ground and in decorative compositions. Due to these qualities, it is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation, confirming its breeding value and suitability for mass cultivation.
For the propagation of this variety, the microclonal method is successfully applied, which ensures high sterility of cultures and effective propagation. Optimal sterilization of explants is achieved using a 7%-n sodium hypochlorite solution and 96%-n ethanol, allowing for the production of more than 56% sterile cultures from corms and 76% from cormlets. With the addition of vitamins and indoleacetic acid to the nutrient medium, a multiplication coefficient of 2 to 4 is achieved, while the survival rate of plants when transferring from in vitro to in vivo conditions is 70%. The juvenile corms obtained do not lag behind in size and number of cormlets compared to plants grown by traditional methods.
