LILAC DISTANCE

The Gladiolus variety "Lilac Distance" is a large-flowered cormous plant with a stem height ranging from 80 to 140 cm. Its flowers are distinguished by their large size—up to 14 cm in diameter, funnel-shaped, and arranged in an ear-shaped inflorescence up to 65 cm long, consisting of 23 buds. The flower coloring is unique: lilac-blue-violet shades with a saturated spot in the center and a concentrated coloring towards the edges, while the strong ruffling of the petals gives the flowers expressiveness and attractiveness. The flowering period is late, allowing enjoyment of blooming at the end of the season. For successful cultivation of Gladiolus "Lilac Distance", it is recommended to choose well-lit and wind-protected areas with loam or sandy-loam, sufficiently drained soils with a slightly acidic reaction. Corm planting is conducted when the soil temperature reaches +8-10°C at a depth of 8-12 cm, with a distance of 10-15 cm between large corms. Throughout the vegetation period, regular watering, soil loosening, and 2-3 dressings with mineral fertilizers are required. To preserve corms for winter, they are dug up before the onset of cold weather, dried, and stored in a dry, cool place. Gladiolus "Lilac Distance" is excellent for creating striking flower beds and flower gardens thanks to the harmonious combination of white and pale lilac shades, selected by color scheme, flowering time, and plant height. It is also an excellent choice for cutting, allowing you to decorate the interior with fresh large flowers. Thanks to its decorative qualities and ease of care, this variety will become an ornament to any garden and provide long-lasting enjoyment of blooming.
