Gladiolus Sudarushka

An elegant accent for your flowerbed

The 'Sudarushka' gladiolus is the result of long-term breeding work by specialists at Michurinsk State Agrarian University (FGBOU VO Michurinsky GAU). Created by a team of originators led by Oleg Alexandrovich Karpov, this variety stands out in the segment of ornamental bulbous crops primarily for its refined aesthetics.

Visual profile and features

The main characteristic of this variety is its saturated lilac petal hue, which is rarely found in such color purity. Unlike many hybrids that emphasize gigantic flower sizes, 'Sudarushka' wins with its harmony and decorative form. The plant fits perfectly into landscape design, creating bright yet refined focal points in any flowerbed.

Strengths and weaknesses

• Decorativeness: The variety has undergone strict selection under Michurinsk GAU conditions, ensuring full compliance with the stated varietal type.
• Reliability: Local breeding is well-adapted to regional climatic conditions, increasing the predictability of flowering.
• Maintenance requirements: Like most gladiolus varieties, this plant is not winter-hardy. Bulbs require annual digging and winter storage, which may be a drawback for busy gardeners who prefer low-maintenance landscaping.

Who is this variety for?

'Sudarushka' is the choice for collectors and aesthetic-minded gardeners. It is not a mass-market "industrial" flower, but a varietal crop that requires attention and proper agricultural practice. If you are willing to spend time digging, drying, and storing the planting material, the plant will reward you with profuse flowering and a unique lilac color that will become a true ornament to your garden in the height of the summer season.
