Freesia – is a perennial bulbous plant of the Iris family, valued for its elegant, fragrant buds and variety of colors: from delicate cream-porcelain shades to rich red, burgundy, and purple tones. Plant height varies from 20 cm to 100 cm depending on the variety; leaves are linear, up to 20 cm long and about 1 cm wide, with a prominently pronounced vein on the central plate.
The plant prefers partial shade and fertile soil. For planting, bulbs are soaked in a fundazol solution, then planted in peat pots or in a bed; cultivation takes place from May to September. Care includes regular watering, fertilization, and soil loosening. Bulbs can be dried and stored for winter.
Freesia is widely used as a decorative plant in gardens, flowerbeds, greenhouses, and indoor settings due to its ability to retain color after cutting. Due to its delicate sweet aroma, it is popular among florists for creating bouquets and wedding arrangements, and is also valued as raw material for elite perfumery.
