Freesia SOUTHERN GLORY

A Focus on Aesthetics and Cut Flower Durability

The «Yuzhnoye Siyanie» (Southern Radiance) freesia, developed by the Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is engineered for subtropical performance. For operators, this variety offers a high degree of predictability during the production cycle. With a plant height of 40-50 cm, it is perfectly suited for high-density greenhouse cultivation, maximizing yield per square meter.

Operational Specifications

• Plant Height: 40–50 cm. This compact size eliminates the need for elaborate support systems or trellising, significantly reducing labor and maintenance costs.
• Color Palette: The double (double-petaled) flowers are available in white, yellow, pink, red, and violet. This wide selection allows for diverse inventory management to meet floristic market demands.
• Cut Flower Quality: The double-flower structure ensures excellent durability during transit. The petal density reduces shrinkage during sorting and packaging.

Cultivation and Maintenance

«Yuzhnoye Siyanie» requires no complex protocols beyond standard greenhouse practices for freesias. The manageable height of the flower stalks allows for efficient manual or semi-automated harvesting, reducing fatigue for personnel. The variety demonstrates a consistent output when standard temperature and humidity protocols, provided by the originator, are maintained.

When managing the crop, it is crucial to monitor humidity during the bud formation stage, as double-flowered varieties are sensitive to moisture imbalances. Routine inspection of irrigation and drainage systems is the key to maintaining vibrant petal color and sturdy, marketable stems.
