Freesia Cardinal

A Georgian Accent in the World of Ornamental Floriculture

The 'Cardinal' freesia variety is a prime example of successful breeding work carried out by specialists at the Federal Research Centre 'Subtropical Scientific Centre of the RAS'. This variety is the result of meticulous scientific efforts aimed at adapting cultivars to specific environmental conditions while creating aesthetically striking floral forms. The origin of this variety is rooted in the favourable climate of Georgia, which contributes to its resilience and consistent blooming patterns.

Character and Application

The hallmark of the 'Cardinal' freesia is the deep, saturated red hue of its single petals. Within the professional industry, this variety is highly regarded for its versatility. Thanks to its structural integrity, it is equally sought after in two distinct market segments:

• Cut Flowers: long and sturdy stems enable the creation of sophisticated mono-bouquets and floral arrangements, where 'Cardinal' serves as a vibrant focal point.
• Potted Plants: the compact and decorative nature of the plant makes this variety an ideal solution for container gardening, terrace decoration, and interior styling.

The reputation of 'Cardinal' in the market is built upon its predictability and high ornamental value. The breeding process, conducted within the walls of a specialized research centre, has achieved a balance between the aesthetic appeal of the bloom and its biological robustness. This makes 'Cardinal' a reliable choice for both professional greenhouse operations and home gardeners seeking high-quality planting material with clearly defined varietal traits.
